I'm looking to analyze sports fans (i.e. why they do the things they do), but I need some starting reading. Are there any books or other resources you know of or recommend? Thanks!

I have a camera, and a some unpaid experience shooting local sports. I just moved to a new area, and I'd like to get involved again, but not for free. Does anyone have experience as a local/news/sports photographer? What was your rate like? How'd you get into it?
