I would suggest you talk to three different sources: 1) Adam Hollander at Brand Marketers in New York. They are an event marketing company that use innovative video technology to provide audience interaction with client brands. They created the video T-shirt, which has gotten news play on every major news outlet and was used to promote iRobot. The video T-shirt promotions went viral. 2. David Meerman Scott, author of the book "The World Wide Rave". He speaks about viral marketing as a way for an individual or organization to become established as a thought leader, expand brand awareness, and grow business. His book is full of examples of successful viral marketing campaigns. 3. Kadient is a company that offers a software application which integrates with Sales Force and expands its functionality. They built a UTube site and posted discussions with executives. The web traffic to their UTube site vastly increased after they created a viral video called, "I Need a Playbook /Sales Hero ." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SFM08DINe8&feat... This musical saga revolves around a salesperson who wants to improve her productivity and achieves this goal utilizing Kadient's product. It has received 3,250 hits. Before the video, I had never heard of Kadient. I would love to know how much business it sent their way. Why do businesses create viral marketing campaigns? To build their brand awareness, interest prospective buyers, and ultimately make sales.
